Before joining Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services I worked in an environmental consultancy that focused on contaminated land within the commercial sector. I wanted a more challenging and wider remit of environmental issues and the construction industry was an obvious choice. Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services stood out for me as one of the leading companies within the highways sector and being part of the very large and successful Balfour Beatty Group could only be a good thing in terms of future opportunities.

Since joining I have experienced rapid career progression with my job developing into a very varied and challenging role. One of the best aspects of the job, is the interaction I have with so many different people. My role requires me to visit sites and talk to operatives, interact with a number of different departments, deliver training to managers and liaise with the Board on important environmental issues.

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services has a strong belief in investing in its staff which is reflected in the amount of training offered to ensure that staff are continually developing new skills. Since joining I have been on several external courses and have gained membership, with the support of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services, to two professional bodies. Not only does the company have a culture that matches my own personal values but the working environment is also very enjoyable with friendly colleagues and an active social calendar with regular events and awards to acknowledge employee efforts.
