Road Accident Investigation Engineer [P0808]

Gillingham

Reporting to the Road Safety Team Leader, the Road Accident Investigator is responsible for indentifying the causes of accidents on the network and propose options to resolve the identified problems. You will develop the accident investigation process so that it can be sold as a service to other organisations. Other duties include:

• Undertaking fatal and other accident investigations.
• Carry out internal passive safety reviews of all damage to Crown Property.
• Seek greater cooperation and understanding between organisations involved in accident investigation.
• Develop the understanding of the Highways Agency on this issue.
• Develop a team of Accident Investigators.
• Review the findings of accident studies to ensure appropriate causation factors have been identified.

Suitable candidates will have proven experience within a similar Road Safety Engineering position. You will have extensive accident investigation experience and will be competent in Safety Auditing. You will have a good understanding of environmental requirements of road safety schemes with a broad knowledge of Quality Management.
